In Melbourne, we are always on the move. Crowned the most liveable city in the world seven times in a row, the city boasts a strong economy, smart infrastructure and a bustling social life. However, the rating glosses over our reality of never being able to pause. When we have no time to pause, we have no time to play.
Utilising concepts from improvisation games, theatre olympics, play science and Lego design, this workshop will show you how you can rethink and redesign what you do using the power of play.
The study of ‘play’ hasn’t been taken very seriously, ever, and yet it is the primary way that humans and animals learn to engage with their environment, their body, inanimate objects and other animals. It is how we learn to navigate and manipulate our physical environment and how we learn to relate to others. When we aim to create new things or find innovations in the work we do, we take a playful approach; remaining open, flexible and highly engaged with what we are doing.
